Maarten’s world is a magical mix of fiction and reality. With his collages and drawings, he creates novels in the form of images. He draws mostly on ivory cardboard, and signs his work with eMWe and with the year of manufacture in Roman numerals.

Inspiration
On the one hand, he is fascinated by antiquity and other cultures, and on the other hand by fairytales and legends.
Through his combined love of nature and the natural world, he has developed his magical yet realistic style.
